According to Alfa Romeo Automobilisimo Storico, chassis number AR 2413125 originally corresponds to an Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV (Tipo 105.22), RHD manufactured on the 21 September 1973 and invoiced by the factory on 28 September 1973 to Alfa Romeo Nicosia Cyprus. Manufactured in Alfa Rosso with magnesium Campagnolo wheels.
Purchased new in 1973 by Mr D Ghinis of Nicosia he kept and used the car until he passed away in 1999. During his ownership he covered 70,000 miles in the car and kept and accumulated an extensive history file documenting his travels and substantiating the cars mileage. On his passing Mr. Gaines's wife kept his GTV, dry storing it until 2014 when brought to the UK and purchased by us. We then supplied it to a long term Alfa Romeo enthusiast who whilst he has enjoyed and used the car sparingly, has had to part with it for medical reasons, thankfully giving us the opportunity to purchase her back.
This really is a very special car. The dry Cypriot climate has treated this GTV
extremely well, on close inspection it appears entirely original. There no signs of reparatory welding, all floors are original and it displays all it's original factory spot welds on the wheel arches and inner wings, sill welds, boot floor, rear valance etc. Remarkable original GTVs are extremely rare. Yes you can restore a car or purchase a car that has been restored, but the opportunity to own one that is completely original seldom arises. We have many pictures of the underside and inner wings available on request. The original interior is in excellent condition including carpets and headlining. The dashboard is crack free and the boot retains its original lining and carpet.
When this car arrived in the UK it was fully recommissioned, these works included replacement of the head gasket, removal, cleaning and rebuilding of the carburetors, new engine and gearbox mounts, new brake slave cylinder, new brake master cylinder new clutch, new clutch master cylinder, new fuel pump, electrical check and cleaning the fuse box, removal cleaning and refitting the fuel tank. On completion a full service was carried out with new spark plugs and all fluids changed. Maintained well by the previous owner it has covered less than 1,500 miles since.
With great documented history together with all the handbooks and the original toolkit, this GTV represents a rare opportunity for someone who appreciates originality. Please call for further details.
